When The Home Depot’s “Let’s Do This” theme was introduced in 2013, it became a brand staple. If you hear or see any Home Depot ad, you hear this theme. The sound and the brand became interchangeable, instantly.
Then we broke it.
No really, SnapHouse was hired to “break” the theme, and put it back together in a commercial campaign called “Make It Yours,” in a collaboration with 22 Squared, an Atlanta/Tampa based agency.
Changing a theme so well known, required a deep knowledge of both musical “morphing” (re-sampling the original theme, slo-mo recreation, manipulating sounds, creating original elements and SFX) to form something that sounded both broken…yet familiar! We loved the opportunity to prove that even a longstanding theme can be adjusted, and still be a hit. This campaign continues to be used in different forms across the country.
